How does the Tempo membership work?

1. Get your Tempo Move
Once you join, we ship your Tempo Move home gym. Your monthly subscription, which includes equipment rental, begins when it’s delivered. No purchase is needed, but a $100 refundable deposit is required to secure your equipment rental.
2. Meet your coach
Schedule a 30-minute video chat with your coach to discuss your goals and lifestyle. Your coach will create a customized plan with specific Tempo classes that fit your schedule, experience, and preferences.
3. Start working out
Connect your phone to your TV via the Tempo Core to get going and choose from your custom plan or our more than 2,000 guided, live and on-demand classes with real-time guidance.  
4. Stay motivated and make progress
Track your workouts and adjust your plan anytime in the Tempo app or by messaging your coach. 
5. Cancel anytime
If you don’t love Tempo, return your equipment in the original packaging to get your equipment deposit back.

What makes Tempo membership different?

Unlike other fitness services, Tempo provides everything you need for one monthly price without requiring any long-term contracts or huge, upfront purchases. Working out with Tempo doesn’t require drilling holes in your walls, scheduling a delivery, or purchasing a separate membership.

Do I need to purchase equipment from Tempo to become a member?

No.
Your Tempo membership includes the rental of the Tempo Move home gym for as long as you’re a member, so you don’t have to purchase any additional equipment. The Tempo Move includes a weight storage cabinet, adjustable dumbbells, weight plates, portable Tempo Core iPhone dock, and an HDMI cable.
In order to stream classes from the Tempo app to your TV and get real-time form feedback, you’ll need the following:
• iPhone XR or later (iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max)
• TV or Display with an HDMI port

Can I use an Android or Apple iPad with the Tempo Move?

No, Android and Apple iPad are not supported at this time.

When does Tempo membership start?

As soon as your Tempo Move is delivered. 
Your monthly billing cycle will repeat each month on the same day. As soon as you receive your Tempo Move, you can create an account on the Tempo app, schedule an intro session with your coach, and start working out.

Why is there a $100 deposit?

The deposit secures your Tempo Move rental. It’s refundable upon return of the Move. To receive your refundable deposit back in full, please ensure your Move remains in good condition and is packaged properly. For more information, please see tempo.fit/returns.

How do I return my Tempo Move rental?

If you choose to end your membership, you will need to return the Tempo Move. For complete return details, visit the memberships section of tempo.fit/returns
Here are the basics of returning the Tempo Move:
1. Keep the packaging
If you think you want to try out the Tempo Move, hold onto the original packaging while you do. Otherwise, purchasing new packaging may be required to ensure the Move does not get damaged during shipping.
2. Contact member support
Once you make up your mind, email hello@tempo.fit to start the return process. We will send you a return slip.
3. Package with care
When placing all items back in the packaging, separate the weights, Tempo Core, and dumbbells from the weight cabinet. You can work with our member support team to get everything packed.
4. Ship using FedEx
You can drop it off at a FedEx location or schedule a pickup at your own expense.

What equipment is included with the Tempo membership?
The Tempo Move includes the following:
  • 1x weight storage cabinet (22” H x 13.5” W x 13.5” D)
  • 1x Tempo Core

  • 1x USB-C power cable
  • 4x 5lb weight plates
  • 4x 2.5lb weight plates
  • 4x 1.25lb weight plates
  • 2x 7.5lb dumbbells
  • Available add-on: 4x 10lb weight plates
What is the Tempo Core?
The Core connects your iPhone and TV to power your personal training experience by using the iPhone camera to track your movements and provide real-time feedback. It’s detachable from the cabinet, so you can place it anywhere your HDMI and USB-C power cables reach or bring it with you on-the-go.
What are the dimensions of the Tempo Move?
Everything included with the Tempo Move fits in the weight cabinet that measures 22” H x 13.5” W x 13.5” D.
How much space do I need to workout with the Tempo Move?

Do I need to use Tempo weights?
You can use your own barbells, kettlebells, or dumbbells, but our 3D sensors may not be able to accurately count your reps, recognize weights, or correct your form. Our 3D sensors are trained using Tempo equipment.
Is there an option to buy out my Move Rental?
Yes! You can choose to buy out your Tempo Move at any time if you prefer to own your equipment. Buyout prices are based on how long you’ve rented your Tempo Move. After 24 months, it’s yours to keep for no extra cost. Here’s how that looks:
Buyout prices are based on the number of months you have rented:
  • Less than 12 months: $495
  • 12 months 1 day to 18 months: $250
  • 18 months 1 day to 24 months: $125
  • After 24 months: $0

If you buy out your Tempo Move, we’ll reduce your monthly membership by $20 per month, beginning the next billing cycle. Your $100 deposit will be returned to you at that time or you may choose to apply your deposit towards the cost of the buyout.
If you pause your membership during your rental period, your paused months do not count towards buyout months. After buyout, One-on-One Fitness Coaching will need to be purchased separately. 

Coaching FAQs

How does One-on-One Fitness Coaching work?
  1. When your Tempo Move is delivered to your door, login to your Tempo account through the Tempo mobile app. Your login is the username and password you create at checkout.
  2. In the app, select a certified fitness trainer based on their style, specialty, and experience.
  3. Schedule a 30-minute video chat with your coach to discuss your goals, routine, and lifestyle. 
  4. Your coach will then create a flexible personalized plan with specific Tempo classes that fit your schedule and preferences.
  5. You’ll be able to chat with your coach via in-app messaging and book another 30min virtual session every 3 months to recalibrate and adjust as needed.
How many members of my Tempo family can use One-on-One Fitness Coaching? 
One. We are currently limiting One-on-One Fitness Coaching to one member per subscription. You can still invite up to 5 individuals to your account, but only one of you will be able to enroll in personal coaching.

Who are the new Tempo personal coaches?
Tempo personal coaches are certified fitness trainers with different backgrounds who specialize in all areas of fitness. During your onboarding, you can browse by availability, specialty, and background to find the one you feel best fits your needs.
